What is MRI?

MRI (or magnetic resonance imaging) is a research method based on the use of magnetic and radio waves, as well as a computer that converts the image. When conducting this study, a person lies for some time in the device, which does not always create pleasant sensations. Our clinic uses an open-type anti-stress MRI, which allows comfortably to take diagnostic event.

Advantages of our clinic

preimuschestva

Convenient location for Southwest, not far from the metro station Kaluzhskaya, New Cheryomushki and Vernadsky Avenue. Convenient access by private vehicle and Parking located near the medical center.

The MRI machine is an open type. The power is 0.44 Tesla, which is much safer for the patient, without losing the quality of the study.

A well-deserved authority of the clinic, which has been engaged in the diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of patients for more than 15 years. Convenient working hours of the medical center where the MRI examination is carried out: opening hours Monday-Sunday from 8:00 to 21:00. You can make an appointment in advance, as well as on a day-to-day basis if necessary.

High quality images satisfy specialists of all profiles.

In an open circuit device, the patient does not need to “drive” into a closed capsule. This is important for people who are anxious, claustrophobic, overweight, with fixed or deformed limbs (with complex fractures, etc.)

The patient chooses the necessary forms of output of the results:

Interpretation and conclusion of our specialist (included in the price of the study, no additional charge).
Record the examination on a disk together with the program for viewing MRI images.
Output of images on film.
The results of MRI and the conclusions of our MRI experts obtained in our clinic are accepted in all private and public consultation centers, hospitals, and hospitals.

The conclusion of our specialist is written in clear language and explained to the patient, recommendations are necessarily given.

When do I need an MRI?

MRI is a safe examination. You can take it on your own initiative to come to a doctor’s appointment and immediately specify the problem. An MRI can be sent by a specialist to clarify the diagnosis.

Primary diagnosis of MRI allows you to detect or immediately exclude tumors of various localization, to assess the consequences of fresh and long-standing injuries. The MRI result can be the very material that will allow you to avoid exhausting examinations in the district polyclinic and quickly get a referral to a specialist and hospitalization.

Referral of a specialist doctor for MRI can be associated with the clarification of diagnoses in various fields of medicine.

How is MRI performed?

Before the examination, all metal objects on the body (on clothing and jewelry) are removed. The study is performed in a supine position. It is important that the subject is in a relaxed and motionless state during the scan. Sometimes, before the procedure, sedatives may be prescribed to reduce anxiety and sufficiently relax the patient. Interaction with the doctor is maintained throughout the procedure. During scanning, loud, repetitive, clicking sounds occur. The time of the MRI depends on the area of the body being examined, on average it can take from half an hour to an hour and a half.

Our tomograph is open-type, so the patient is in a more comfortable environment than in closed-type tomographs. People who are prone to claustrophobia are shown to be diagnosed on an open-type tomograph. In closed-type tomographs, during an MRI scan, the patient is in a closed space inside the magnetic tube. Some patients may experience a feeling of claustrophobia during the study.

What can an MRI do?

Magnetic resonance imaging allows you to consider the shape and structure of the human body. It uses radio waves, which, unlike x-rays, are completely safe for humans.

The specialist doctor adjusts the device so that it is possible to examine a certain area of the body:

  • MRI of the head can detect tumors, aneurysms and other vascular features, as well as some problems of the nervous system (including the condition of the visual and auditory nerves).
  • MRI of vessels-angiography – allows you to detect damage in the vessels, deposits on the walls of vessels, etc. Sometimes the doctor introduces a contrast agent into the patient’s blood so that the study is as accurate as possible.
  • MRI of bones and joints helps to notice deformities, injuries, changes in structure, and tumors. It is indispensable for preparing for complex operations and clarifying the results of conventional x-rays.
  • MRI of the spine is indispensable for injuries and pain. It shows the condition of the discs and nerves, clearly diagnoses disc dislocations, hernias, and tumors.

Contraindications

MRI is safe for almost all patients and can be performed frequently. The examination is completely painless and does not affect the state of human organs and systems. Since an open-type MRI machine is used, any patient, even with claustrophobia, will feel comfortable during the study.

MRI may be contraindicated in:

  • if the patient is overweight (over 140 kg),
  • if there is heart or kidney failure,
  • if there are installed prostheses, a pacemaker, a hearing aid.

If you need an MRI and have a psychologically unfavorable experience of undergoing the procedure (or suspect that this may happen), tell us about it. There are plenty of ways to deal with stress, both medicated and non-medicated. We will help you safely pass this important examination and get the necessary information about your health.
